NYCFC gave the Bronx an early Fourth of July celebration, defeating Toronto FC 3-1 in front of 19,000+ home fans at Yankee Stadium. Hannes Wolf set the tone with a stunning volley that rang off both posts before finding the net, and Mitja Ilenič added a second just after halftime. Toronto clawed one back and briefly made things interesting. Kevin O'Toole, fresh off the bench, calmly added to the scoresheet to put the game away. Coming off a tough loss in Montréal, it was the response City needed before heading out on the road.
